It has always been the goal of the annual St. Baldrick’s
Foundation event at Hofstra University to raise enough money to get Provost
Herman Berliner to shave his head in solidarity with children fighting
childhood cancers. Every year, Dr. Berliner has said that if the school raised
over $25,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, he would join in and shave his
head. Over the past four years, the school has come close, but had not quite
reached that $25,000 mark. This year, however, that goal was shattered. At the
end of the event, students, faculty and community members alike raised over
$36,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation!
