WINTER
(MIDYEAR) COMMENCEMENT: December 22, 2013
Many of you
now are gearing up for the holidays and another special day – your student’s
December graduation!
However,
before the BIG graduation day here are some things you and your student should
know:
“When and where is the Midyear Graduation
Ceremony?”
The Midyear
Ceremony takes place this year on Sunday, December 22 at 11:30am at the David
S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Line up for Students will be at the
Physical Education Complex at 10:30am. Parking
and campus map directions can be found here.
Has your
student ordered his/her cap and gown? Do they know where to pick it up?
Students
that haven’t ordered their cap and gown can still obtain one. Students can come to the Plaza Rooms located
in the Mack Student Center between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on
Wednesday, December 18, or Thursday, December 19, or one hour before the
ceremony on Sunday, December 22 in the Physical Education Complex (where the
students will be lining up) at 10:30 a.m. Your student must bring his/her Hofstra ID in
order to receive their academic attire. There is no fee for the cap and gown
and students may keep the attire after the ceremony.
Once, the
student picks up his/her cap and gown instructions will be given on how to
assemble the attire. Your student will also receive a yellow index card with his/her
name and procession placement.
Has your
student received his or her tickets? Do they need more than 6 tickets?
Your student
for the Midyear Undergraduate Ceremony receives 6 assigned seat tickets
at robe distribution on December 18 and December 19 at the Mack Student Center
Plaza Rooms between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. However,
if they need additional tickets they must enter their names into a lottery
during robe distribution. Lottery winners will be notified via his/her Hofstra
email and have 2 hours to respond to receive two (2) additional tickets.

Hofstra in support of undergraduate education. All midyear students who make a
donation of $20.14 will receive recognition in the President’s Annual Report
and an invitation to the Donor Appreciation Reception! Click here
