Hofstra students are invited and encouraged to attend a series of workshops dedicated to empowering students in the job market and recognizing the diversity that makes them strong.
March 7, 2018, from 11:15am to 12:45pm in room 107 of the Student Center, will be Hofstra’s “Pitch Perfect” event. This event is focused on developing students’ skills in telling their stories to employers.
April 11, 2018, from 11:15am to 12:45pm in the Student Center Greenhouse, Hofstra is hosting a workshop for students who are registered with Student Access Services and are interested in jobs in the healthcare field. Joining the workshop as a guest speaker is Lesley St. Louis, who is the Inclusion Specialist at Northwell Health.
April 17, 2018, from 9am to 1:30/2pm, Hofstra is hosting its “Diversity at Work” event aimed at highlighting diversity issues and empowering students. The event kicks off with a speech by keynote speaker Mecca Santana, the Vice President of Diversity and Community Relations at the Westchester Medical Center Health Network. Students then break out into two succeeding sessions, with multiple options for seminars. One seminar in the first session is “LGBTQA+ in the Workplace” with speakers from The LGBT Network, CA Technologies, and the Nassau County Police Department. One seminar in the second session is “The True You: Combining Your Personal and Professional Self”, which concerns developing and recognizing the differences in personality between personal life and the workplace, presented by Jill Grossman from Grant Thornton. The day is then rounded up with a lunch, a second keynote speaker, and a panel discussion.
We encourage interested students to attend to take advantage of all the exciting and useful opportunities these three events offer. For specific questions regarding these events feel free to reach out to Student Access Services (516-463-7075) or The Career Center (516-463-6060).
