Happy LGBTQ+ heritage month, Hofstra families!
This month we celebrate with several events. First, the Hofstra community came together to commemorate National Coming Out Day by taking a photo in the designated colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple). Hofstra faculty, staff, and students came together to show our Pride and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

The LGBTQ+ Heritage Month reception will be held during date? common hour, 11:15am-12:30pm in Multipurpose Room West, Student Center. The featured speaker is Hofstra alumna, Ms. Leighann Farrelly, ’03. Ms. Farrelly will be speaking about her role as an ally and about her experience in coordinating the 2016 New York City Pride March. We are so excited to host such an illustrious alumna! Refreshments will be served.

Also, on Friday, October 14th, the featured film of the Friday Nite Flix event is the documentary, “El Canto Del Colibri.” This film highlights the discussion of intersectionality among the Latino and LGBTQ+ communities. The film starts at 4PM in the IEI Wing, Room 263, Student Center.

Contact the office of Intercultural Engagement and Inclusion at IEI@hofstra.edu with any questions or for more information about any of these events. And as always, please encourage your students to attend and show their Pride!
